David Fulmer’s The Silence of the Sirens is commissioned by the Callithumpian Consort with a generous grant from Jeffrey Duryea.

OPEN FOR’m is an immersion, an encounter, a multi-dimensional experience. The Callithumpian Consort focuses on a single genre in a free-form event made of equal parts teach-in, demonstration, discussion, open rehearsal, Q and A session, pre-concert lecture, and post-concert reception. Sit next to and among the performers; experience the music, its history, challenges and beauties from inside the group!

Tonight’s event will feature encounters with the above music, and will continue with full performances of all these works at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Calderwood Hall tomorrow, Thursday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, November 5th, 7:00pm

STIR series at the Gardner Museum: Strings

The Callithumpian Strings continue their exploration of this musical program at the Gardner Museum — exploring extremes of dissonance, repetition and F# minor chords. Experience modern classics by Ligeti, Reich and Xenakis alongside works for string quartet and electronics by monumental composer Unsuk Chin, and the premiere of David Fulmer’s Sirens.
