The Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) celebrates composers of our time with concerts showcasing premieres of newly commissioned works. To offer an intimate and revealing window into how these composers listen to music, and to understand how what they hear informs their own compositional processes, New England Conservatory (NEC) and the BSO collaborate to present unique—and decidedly eclectic—hour-long prelude concerts.

Curated by the composers themselves, these concerts feature excerpts from the works listed here: music that has been especially meaningful to the composer’s musical life and vision, and other works by the composers themselves. In addition, each composer offers commentary in conversation with the BSO’s Robert Kirzinger.
